This Design was approved by the Society, and he was Desired to proceed therein”. Many papers, some in Latin others in English. Ten Chapters covering: Geometry, Arithmetick, Algebra, Logarithmotechny; Trigonometry, Surveying: Opticks: Astronomy, Mechanicks, Acousticks: Hydrostatics, Hydraulicks: Geography, Navigation: Architecture, Ship-Building: Perspective, Sculpture, Painting: Of Musick. Very attractive and well presented popular science book. Decorative blue cloth with superb gilt embossed decorations of Saturn in the centre and four circular devices with animals in each corner on front boards. Very Good condition, bumps and rubes to corners and spine ends of covers, outer hinges sound with no splits, inner hinge on Vol2 split along pastedown but board still held firmly by the cords, all other inner hinges and endpapers sound, slight shelf surface robs to covers. Internally tight and clean and bright with a little mild foxing just to reverse of plates, not affecting plates themselves. A handsome set, giving excellent popular coverage of scientific knowledge in the first quarter of the 20th century.. Over sixteen hundred illustrations and photographs bring to life the plants, animals, and wonders which surround us. A heavy set of books. Ffep lost and book opens to half title page. Internally tight and clean. Duncan"s book was first published in 1748 as part of Dodsley"s Preceptor. Dodsley republished it separately the same year, and there were a further eight editions in the 18th century. Most copies found are now the Bell editions. The Dodsley seventh edition was a different setting ETSC locates 7 copies of this edition in the UK. The Elements Of Logick. In four books. Book I.
