Grey cloth with magnificent illustration in gilt, red, green, brown and various shades, colours almost look enameled. All edges gilt, 80pp + 2 pp table of engravings. 38 superb, detailed and rich full colour full page illustrations, 2 of which are double page. A lavishly produced book printed on heavy paper with each page individually hinged into the book by binding stubs. Text in French. Bumps and rubs at board corners and spine ends. Slight darkening at board margins. Book is sound and firm. One page has several ink blots, the remainder of the book is clean with light toning to margins. A couple of pages have small splits where the page joins the binding stubs, common with this type of binding. Very scarce.
