Text and views of how the world was nearly 80 years ago. Some remarkable photography.  Authors include Joseph Conrad (essay on 'The Romance of Travel') Maurice Baring on Russia,Emile Cammaerts on Antwerp, Florence Farmborough on Bukarest, Dobruja, Poland and Warsaw, Rosita Forbes on Arabia, Gordon Home on Malta, Riviera Tripoli, Dean Inge on London, Harold Spender on Greece and Sofia, Sir Percy Sykes on Persia, Katherine Tynan on Dublin, Hugh Walpole on New York, Jerome K. Jerome on Dresden, Sir Halford Mackinder on England. Some marks on covers, and spine tips very lightly rubbed.  Vol 6 internal hinges separated, at front prelims attacged to front cover, last page of index attached to rear cover, externaaly intact and would rebind well . Internally, vols 4 &5 each has one signature (one folded section of the pages) in each volume crumpled at the gutters the pages pulling at the stitching (probably an original binding fault). This affects a dozen or so pages in each.. Apart from these faults a very good handsome set that will grace any bookshelf
