A complete collection of UK phonecards should include the cards issued by the smaller companies which appeared after de-regulation of the telecommunications sector. Such a company was Cardlink (New World Payphones) Ltd New World Payphones operated CARDLINK cardphone telephone systems, using GPT magnetic cards similar cards to Mercury. New World Telephones commenced their independent operations in 1993, prior to this they were a wholesaler of Paytelco cards to retail outlets. Cardlink supplied cash and card telephones systems to many hospitals, universities and motorway service areas. |
